About PRTC:

The Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC), located in Patiala, was established on October 16, 1956, under the Road Transport Corporations Act, 1950. Its primary goal is to offer efficient, sufficient, cost-effective, and well-coordinated road transport services in the state. Beginning its passenger transport operations with an initial investment of Rs. 25.00 lakhs, the corporation initially operated with a fleet of 60 buses covering 11,107 daily scheduled kilometers across 15 routes with a staff force of 345 employees. As of now, PRTC operates with 704 owned and 251 KM Scheme ordinary buses, 2 self-owned and 11 Integral Coaches under the KM Scheme, and 59 self-owned HVAC buses operating on 577 routes (including inter-state routes) with a daily mileage of 355827 kilometers. It employs a total workforce of 4000 as of April 30, 2012, including 2271 regular employees, 1460 through outsourcing, 83 PESCO personnel, and 186 on PRTC contract. The corporation has ten depots located at Patiala, Bathinda, Kapurthala, Barnala, Sangrur, Budhlada, Faridkot, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, and a Special Cell of KM Scheme at Patiala.

The head office of The Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) is based in Patiala. Besides operating bus services within Punjab State, PRTC provides transportation services to neighboring states such as Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Union Territories of Chandigarh and Delhi.

PRTC not only offers intercity services but also connects remote villages with nearby towns and cities. Additionally, it provides free or concessional travel facilities to various categories of commuters as per the State Government's directives.
